Plotting Meme #4

How It Works

Welcome to the first plotting post for Mission #4 of Annexed!

How Mission Logs Work: There will generally be two main missions per month, with different focuses tailored to different skillsets (usually stealth vs. fighting, though other skillsets will be tapped on). Each mission will be posted in phases, with a prompt for the start of each phase. The plotting post will give you a rundown of what the missions are, how they might go, and what might be discovered. Characters may partake in whichever pat of the operation they choose, whether it's a large prominent part or a more supporting role. Characters may participate in both missions, and as many phases as they wish.

Mod Guidance: Players may request occasional scene-setting when they hit a point where they're unsure what might happen next in a log or what their characters might encounter. There will be a "Mod Guidance" comment that players can reply to in order to request this kind of scene-setting.

Completion of Missions: There will be a submissions comment for anyone who's threaded out a portion of the mission. Once a thread has been completed at least halfway, please submit your character's progress and plans for the thread to the submissions thread. These submissions are the main way that the mod will decide how the mission went in the next month's wrap-up post, so they are very important!

After The Mission: A couple of weeks after the mission is posted, a Relief Log will go up for characters to patch up, wind down, and interact casually. There will be a wrap-up post toward the end of the month after the mission is posted to explain how it went.

Mission Log: Here!

The Invasion

Several months ago, there was a mission to deliver supplies to an endangered outpost of the Witches Camp. This outpost is called the Northeastern Front, and is in a particularly highly disputed piece of territory. There are constant raids and espionage by the Sylphid, who are trying to claim the area for settlement and to provide a much smoother route of invasion for the Witches Camp itself.

Just this morning, a scout from the Northeastern Front stumbled into the Witches Camp, dehydrated and starving, on foot, to report that the outpost has been completely taken over by the Sylphid, who hit with a surprise attack in the middle of the night. The scout reports that the outpost's inhabitants have been shut into locked cages and are being held without food or water, and that the Sylphid are occupying the camp completely.

The Witch is proposing a mission to retake the Northeastern Front. If this outpost remains taken by the Sylphid, a full on invasion of the Witches Camp can't be far behind, not with such a pivotal location taken over.

The Witch will be calling a general meeting at the Command Center where she will explain the situation and the proposed missions to stop it.

Mission A: Scouting the Scene

Mission Appropriateness: Chipped or Stripped
Mission Focus: Recon, stealth

This mission will focus on recon and stealth. Characters will travel on hover-ATVs to the Northeastern Front, where they will park in the jungle outside of the range of scouting by the Sylphid, and approach on foot. They will approach and learn the rounds of the Sylphid guards as well as release prisoners from the cages and take them out of the outpost to be rehydrated and fed.

Phase I - Recon: Characters will approach the camp on hover-ATVs and infiltrate the Northeastern Front, where they will learn the rounds of the Sylphid guards.
Phase II - Infiltration: Characters will learn and map the layout of the outpost as the Sylphid have rearranged it to their tastes.
Phase III - Liberation: Characters will free prisoners from cages through various means and take those prisoners back to the hover-ATVs to be treated, preferably without being confronted by the Sylphid.

Mission B: The Battle

Mission Appropriateness: Chipped or Stripped
Mission Focus: Open battle

This mission will focus on open battle to take back the Northeastern Front. Once the prisoners have been removed and taken to safety, a force will approach the outpost on hover-ATV and suit up in body armor and arm themselves with weapons to retake the outpost. This will be a knock-down drag-out battle, straight up, with characters routing and taking down Sylphid, capturing prisoners for interrogation, and trying not to destroy the infrastructure of the camp.

Phase I - Assembly: Characters will gather at a small camp outside the outpost to quickly go over the maps and Sylphid rounds that were gathered by the recon team and to suit up.
Phase II - Invasion: Characters will invade the outpost and try to take out the Sylphid there.
Phase III - Survival & Succeeding: After powerful elemental mages and with large, vicious familiars enter the camp, the invaders will have to fight them off and retake the camp.

The Plotting Form

Please fill out the form below and post to plot for the event with other players!

[personal profile] newmemorywhodis 2023-02-05 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Link
Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Lots of fighting and archery skills, survival skills, and all of the things the Sheikah Slate can do, i.e. Infinite Bombs, moving things with Magnesis, etc

Missions: A & B
Phases: Probably all! Will see how things go

General Plans: So far I think the missions have gone pretty well for Link, with him generally being a ridiculous beast on the battlefield. But we can't have that all the time - so I'm thinking that this time around during BIII things will go badly for Link - maybe he gets a serious injury in the fight, or gets cornered and overwhelmed by more enemies than he can handle, etc etc.

So, if anyone else wants to have a Big Damn Heroes moment, this could be a good time for it!

If smol sword boy would like to be rescued by smol sword girl, let's do it.

Yes smol sword girl should totally come save the smol sword boy!

Edit since we have more info now - I'm thinking that a fight against Dark'ness and Hydra could work well for this. Maybe they get control of Link's shadow and then Rey needs to figure out how to break their control / fight without hurting Link?

If that doesn't work for you though, we could do something with one of the other mages

tarisian_cathar: (asking questions)

Juhani | Knights of the Old Republic

[personal profile] tarisian_cathar 2023-02-05 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Juhani
Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Force powers and a load of combat experience

Missions: Mission B
Phases: All

General Plans: Juhani will absolutely be leading from the front, and wherever the combat's thickest? That's where she's going to be. Happy to play around with anything, including last-second support from what otherwise might turn into a desperate last stand. :P
tech_nically: (shall I kill them Hunter)

[personal profile] tech_nically 2023-02-05 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Tech
Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: A genetically engineered clone soldier, he's no stranger to a battlefield or some recon work. He dual-wields blaster pistols and will push through for his allies no matter how lopsided the situation might look. As his name implies, he's good with technical things and his Heba ability allows him to communicate with and control machinery, equipment and computers to a degree.

Missions: A & B
Phases: Potentially all phases, depending on timing

General Plans:
Tech will be right at home here, doing what he does best, and will do his best. He'll be there to support or fight alongside people as needed, and won't be above pulling any rescues even if things look toasty. I'm largely open to anything here.

Addendum: Now that we've got some bosses up, who's all for facing Silhara and a dragon? (totally rolled dice to decide who to throw Tech at)

purplexing: (eat my mystic tech)

[personal profile] purplexing 2023-02-05 08:30 am (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Donatello
Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Tian
Useful Skills & Abilities: Ninja and all it implies, or at least 80-90% anyway, technical wizard in the creational sense, beginning spell-user and all two of them are offensive, imagine that. And then there's his mystic tech, which is a whole different beast that he can't wait to break out again.

Missions: A & B
Phases: A-I and all of B

General Plans:
Donnie's going to be a lot more confident going into things this time around because he'll have his battle shell back and his mystic tech. Maybe too confident. Glass cannon, baby. He'll run the risk of shorting himself out so to speak since his ninpo ability is coming purely from him and not running off a full family connection. It'll be fine. Maybe.

Addendum: Also dice-decided, guess Donnie will be thrown at Dendrite and the Chimera. That should be fun. Anyone else?

Character Name: Rey
Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: ~The Force~; she's also got her lightsaber back for stabbing and slicing purposes.

Missions: Either/both
Phases: Any, but she'll be particularly useful in the active battle phases.
General Plans: Hit stuff with laser sword, keep people from getting hurt, get people back to safety.

Hey Rey, want to use those nifty Jedi senses to help evac some prisoners without being caught by the Sylphid?

Character Name: Layla El-Faouly
Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Infiltration, stealth, recon, some combat experience (primarily hit & run). Her Heba ability is object animation, which could come in handy in a pinch.

Missions: A & B
Phases: A - all phases, B I-II

General Plans: Stealth and infiltration are Layla's jam, so she's going to be all over recon and rescue, and will be on hand in BI to help with last minute planning. She's a pretty decent fighter, but is decidedly not front-line material, so during the invasion she'll mostly be on hand to take down some patrols ahead of the main force to buy them a little surprise, and keep some exit routes clear in case things go completely sideways.

[personal profile] concord_dawned 2023-02-07 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Boba Fett
Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Ranged and close-quarters combat. Can summon his Mandalorian armor and weapons at will, including an EE-3 carbine rifle, wrist-mounted flamethrower, mini concussion rocket launcher, a fibercord grappling device, and retractable vibro-blades. Oh, and a jetpack.

Missions: B
Phases: All three

General Plans: Boba is going to get absolutely lost in the sauce, and by sauce I mean purifying, unrestrained violence. He'll be using his jetpack to drop in on unsuspecting mages and cause chaos in the enemy's back line, plus chasing down any particularly authoritative-looking Sylphid to drag back as prisoners.

Once the bosses show up, I’d like to throw Boba at Dark’ness and their hydra—mostly because, for totally normal and not-disturbing reasons, Boba has put an inordinate amount of thought into how beheading + cauterization works. Thus, he will figure out fairly quickly that burning the hydra’s severed neck stumps will prevent its heads from growing back. He’ll need some help here because, while he has a flamethrower for handy cauterization, someone else will need to do the actual beheading.

or he can just relay the strategy to someone with a lightsaber since he KNOWS those cut and cauterize at the same time—again, due to totally normal and not at all disturbing reasons
