Mini Missions

How It Works
⇝ The mini missions are smaller tasks that can be done between the major missions set up by the Witches. These missions are built to be completed by multiple people or groups.
⇝ To 'claim' a mission, just fill in the plotting comment textbox at the bottom of this entry with the missions that you're intending to complete and tag around to plot with others.
⇝ To complete a mission, simply thread it out on the logs community, post on the network to find people to go with, or otherwise play out the mission. There is a mini mission submissions thread below where you can submit what you did on your mission. Be creative! The missions are prompts, and you can feel free to embellish as much as you'd like - if you have questions about something you'd like to do, just post them to the questions thread!
To The Troop
Difficulty: moderate
Suitability: chipped or stripped
Objective: Travel to The Troop and collect samples for research material.
Possible Outcome: New medicines and/or biological weapons to use in the fight against the Sylphid.
Dangers: Ambient spores causing hallucinations and disorientation (see The Troop on the Setting & Locations Page); retaliation from The Troop.
One of the top research firms in the Witches Camp has put out a request for samples of mushroom flesh and spores from The Troop, in an attempt to make several new items - specifically, medicines to treat a childhood illness that can cause crippling disabilities into adulthood and a possible biological weapon that could be used against the Sylphid.
Characters taking this mission on will be provided with leather face masks to protect from the spores, though no amount of protection will completely block them out, and there is still risk of hallucinations and disorientation despite the masks. While collecting samples of mushroom flesh, root, spores, and gills, characters may find that The Troop retaliates in other ways - mushrooms will topple with intent to crush characters, the mushrooms may move and sway away from attempted cuts, and mushroom growths may appear underneath the characters, growing at an exponential rate in an attempt to knock them over.
The samples that are expected are from the mushroom caps (both in the red parts and the white dot parts), gills, and stalks, as well as spores captured in a bottle, and characters will be provided with vials and bottles for this purpose.
Operation: Relief
Difficulty: moderate
Suitability: chipped or stripped
Objective: Deliver supplies to an endangered camp.
Possible Outcome: The people at the camp will be fully stocked and able to continue the fight. This mini mission ties into a future main mission.
Dangers: Sylphid troops and recon groups; jungle wildlife.
There is a small outpost of the Witches Camp to the northeast of the main city itself, nestled in the jungle just at the edge of The Troop that has sent back a request for supplies. The camp has been the subject of constant Sylphid attack and espionage since it was founded, but is very necessary for keeping track of Sylphid movements in the area, which is a highly disputed piece of territory. There have been several battles in the area previously, and it is only barely held by the Witches at this time.
Characters taking on this mission will be tasked with driving hover-ATVs loaded up with supplies through the jungle on a rough track that is half overgrown, and bring them to this outpost. The supplies are primarily food and medical supplies, as well as weapons and ammunition. The route is twisting and overgrown on purpose, to hide the back exit to the outpost, and will have to be navigated with care. Characters may also run into Sylphid scouting parties and troops in the area, aside from the regular wildlife - large sabretooth cats, giant snakes and spiders, wild boars, oversized deer that can take out a hover-ATV with their giant antlers, among others (be creative! make up your own monsters!). The trek back will be a little less dangerous as the ATVs won't be burdened down with supplies, but there are still plenty of opportunities to run into danger!
When the characters arrive at the outpost, they will be given a warm welcome and invited to join in on a simple meal of mushroom and potato stew that the cook has made, given a couple of drinks, and offered a place to stay overnight. Just be careful, there might be a Sylphid raid while you sleep!
The New Arrivals
Difficulty: high
Suitability: chipped or stripped
Objective: Rescue new arrivals from a research facility at the edge of Sylphid territory.
Possible Outcome: Bring new arrivals back to the Witches Camp; characters may regain one item from their application inventory.
Dangers: Warfare with the Sylphid.
A new outpost of Broken World Research has been discovered just outside city limits, buried deep in the jungle with just a dirt track leading to it. Broken World Research is the firm that is responsible for the complex device that brought the extradimensional visitors to the planet, and their facilities often house newly arrived extradimensional visitors and their belongings. This particular facility has been deemed as vulnerable due to its remote location and a distinct lack of security - though the scouts have also stated that it may be a trap, due to that same lack of security.
Characters are provided with weapons and stealth gear, and tasked with infiltrating the facility in whatever way suits them best, to rescue the new arrivals and loot for any items that may belong to current extradimensional visitors. There are several points of entry, as with most buildings - through the sewers, vent systems, windows, and through the front door if you're not feeling subtle.
But be prepared, while this wasn't necessarily a trap, the security in the building is better than anticipated and there are Sylphid troops on guard. No matter how stealthy you are, there's likely to be a fire fight...
NOTE: Anyone who completes this mission may find one item from the inventory stated on their application at the facility.
Sabotaging Sensors
Difficulty: high
Suitability: chipped or stripped
Objective: Sabotaging sensor stations that are being set up outside Sylphid territory.
Possible Outcome: Sylphid territory will not increase. This mini mission ties into next month's main mission.
Dangers: Being captured by the Sylphid.
The Sylphid have been very recently making forays into the jungle around the neighborhoods around the outskirts of Zephyr, but scouts were not able to work out what they were doing until very recently. They have reported that the Sylphid are setting up sensor outposts.
Why is this bad? Well, the Sylphid track their subjects through the implantation of a chip that is read by ambient sensors placed up all over the city - this is how they keep track of people, read their biofeedback, and make sure no one escapes. The Witches Camp has a magical spell that disrupts this system by sending back false information on any chipped members of the rebellion, but that system only works within the confines of the Witches Camp. Outside of the camp, and outside of this sensor net that the Sylphid have set up, there is no way to track people, which means that chipped or stripped characters can do missions and use stealth, or even just live a normal life free of the Sylphid.
So increasing the range of these sensors is increasing Sylphid territory, making it impossible for stripped characters to do missions in the areas they are set up. They are trying to extend their control of the populace beyond just the city limits. This could be very, very bad.
Characters are tasked with attacking the scouted Sylphid outposts and destroying the sensors, and killing as many of the Sylphid setting them up as possible. Right now, the outposts are very small, essentially they are cell towers being set up in the jungle around the neighborhoods at the outskirts of the city. Hunt down as many towers as possible and destroy them, kill the technicians who know how to set them up.
Characters will be given plastic explosives to destroy the towers, and will be heavily armed. The Sylphid will be attempting to kill the rebels, but will also attempt to capture some of them alive in order to interrogate them - this poses a major risk of being captured, re-chipped (if stripped), and needing to be rescued.
NOTE: Please contact the mod by PM or on the questions thread if you're interested in a character being captured for this mission.

Link To Thread: Here
Summary Of Thread: Tech decides to take advantage of the opportunity during the sabotage mission by seeing what's to be downloaded from the tower once they've dispatched of the Sylphid technicians and guards, however gets interrupted and subsequently captured when Sylphid reinforcements arrive and catch him and Link while they're momentarily separated. Link goes after him before the Sylphid can return to their vehicle, making the best use of what's available at the time for a distraction to pull off a rescue. He detonates the bombs planted on the tower for added distraction in their escape.
Characters Involved: Marc Spector, Tech
Link To Thread: Here
Summary Of Thread: Marc and Tech infiltrate the research facilities via the sewers and make their way through as stealthily as possible, knowing inevitably things will end up getting noisy. Once closer to the holding area they reassess their breakout plans and come across some familiar belongings...

Character Name: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Mission(s) Accepted:
Plotting Ideas:
New Arrivals Obi-Wan is definitely on board with helping new arrivals, that is a given. He will also be coming across his lightsaber! But in the meantime, uncivilized weapons it is! I am open to him working with other(s) as in Obi-Wan's opinion -based on releasing subjects from the lab- it is more efficient to work in teams!
Sabotaging Sensors: Obi-Wan likes his high risk missions, but he does not like killing sentient life, especially not in cold blooded murder style. I am thinking he would definitely set charges and blow shit up -and if there are people in there, oh well- but he wouldn't be keen on the cold blooded murder part of things. So this might be an opportunity for him to team up with someone who is more about the murder, murder side of things?
One word of warning, I am toying with the idea of letting him be captured, but anyone who partners with him is NOT expected to go the same route. In fact Obi-Wan would do all he could to make sure his mission partner escaped; just please send someone back to get him.
OR
Operation Relief: If plotting for sabotage does not work out this time around, Obi-Wan will definitely feel more comfortable with delivering relief supplies!
no subject
ETA: I'm fine with her trying to rescue him or getting captured along with him or going and bringing someone back!

Character Name: Luke Skyalker
Mission(s) Accepted:
THE NEW ARRIVALS
But maybe OPERATION: RELIEF as well?
Plotting Ideas:
What? The option to get an inventory item back already was too good to pass up on! Plus the irony of having two copies of the same lightsaber from different time periods around is too good to pass up!
For Operation Relief it's more just so... a certain person gets the chance to fly this time. Though if anyone wants to do one of these missions with Luke I'm flexible in general!
Character Name: Heero Yuy
Mission(s) Accepted:
SABOTAGING SENSORS
but he could be persuaded to do OPERATION: RELIEF or TO THE TROOP as well.
Plotting Ideas:
Finally Heero can stop being salty about not blowing stuff up during the last mission. I mean... a chance to do more good. Yay! Heero is completely fine with blowing up the towers and killing the technicians. No capturing for this one, because he's likely to just... try blowing the place up with him in it if that happens and I'd prefer to avoid that.

Character Name: Mikumo Guynemer
Mission(s) Accepted: -To the Troop
-Operation: Relief
-The New Arrivals
Plotting Ideas: For the Troop mission, Mikumo is quite good at keeping her head even in very out-there situations, so I imagine that would be helpful for a mission where there's a risk of people hallucinating. She's also gotten the hang of her water powers and will be carrying around a canteen so she's got water on hand to control, which means she might be able to reach some of the higher-up stuff to cut bits off without having to climb.
For Operation: Relief, Mikumo is experienced with driving rough terrain since she does espionage type stuff back home with some regularity and a lot of the planets she works on are jungle or forest heavy, so if there's anyone less confident in their driving skills but more confident helping pick off any dangers they might run into, she's open for that pair-up.
For The New Arrivals, again Mikumo has espionage experience so that should help here, and while she's not likely to be covering the ass of anyone who tries to storm in through the front door and gets busted, since she'll likely be using the vents or something along those lines she may be able to provide images of rooms and so on to show people where the guards are more heavily packed. Regains-wise I'm planning to have her find her holographic bodysuit so she has access to all her hard-light hologram outfits again, and also have an easier time disguising herself since it can change hairstyles/colours and add minor features to her and such.

harley quinn ♦ dceu
Character Name: Harley Quinn
Mission(s) Accepted: The New Arrivals, open to others
Plotting Ideas: I already have some plans for Sabotaging Sensors!
For The New Arrivals, I'd like Harley to go along as big guns and weapons supply with her new ability. She's an excellent fighter and loves kicking ass and taking names, so with her it'll be all chaos all the time.
HOWEVER, that being said, I'd love to do a little infiltration with her, maybe through the ductwork or the sewers, which she'll do without complaint. I didn't get to do any fancy infiltration on the mission post, let's do it now!
I'm also open to Harley being randomly assigned or dragged on any of the other missions.

Character Name: James T Kirk
Mission(s) Accepted:
Plotting Ideas: To The Troop or The New Arrivals
To The Troops: Capturing spores from alien plant life sounds easy enough so no doubt he can find a way to mess it up. Really though, while he does not have the skills to actually do anything with them himself he can certainly see the importance in researching the effects, either for their own benefit or to disrupt their foes, so he is more than happy to head out and go collecting.
The New Arrivals: Once it is known that others have been captured and are being held, he will certainly want to help break them out and will join up with likeminded souls. They can do their best to be stealthy and get in un-noticed though he is of the opinion that a fight with guards will end up inevitable.
I am down for doing either option with people so lets work something out :)

Character Name: Tech
Mission(s) Accepted: Operation Relief, New Arrivals, or SABOTAGE
Plotting Ideas:
I was drawn to the Sabotage mission right off the back before I even read the details lol- who doesn't like sabotage?
Operation Relief - I'm thinking Tech in the driver's seat. That is really the main thought I had in this, shhhh.
New Arrivals - He's not going to blow off a chance to poke around Sylphid territory or possibly see if any of his squad's gotten pulled in (T_T). Maybe he'll get his helmet out of this. His powers should be kicking in by this point so maybe he can make some use out of that, but otherwise he'll still be relying on his usual methods, and at least he's had time to upgrade his own computery thing for better scans and ranged hacking, all that good stuff. Theoretically. That's also another reason to go do this stuff, stress-testing!! Aaand when it comes down to a fight he's at least good with his guns.
Sabotaging Sensors - These kind of missions are his bread and butter...well, usually. Kind of hard to pull without his squad, but he'll pull his weight if he can join in on someone else's. He'll be bringing the same stuff to the party as touched on above, and don't worry, he knows how to use explosives.
Totally open to how any of these pan out, that's part of the fun right?

Character Name: The Doctor
Mission(s) Accepted:
To the Troop - Accepted
Operation: Relief - Tentative
Sabotaging Sensors - Very tentative
Plotting Ideas:
To the Troop - The Doctor will happily go along on this one because why not get a chance to get up close and personal with the local (and potentially dangerous) fauna?
The New Arrivals - Happy to have someone drag him along simply for thinking that he's actually a doctor because of the name and he could be useful to get the new arrivals on their feet. He'll likely refuse to fight unless necessary which leaves being stealthy. Once he's in the facility he'll have a really keen interest in the tech the Sylphid have on hand and probably try to smuggle some out. I'm more than open to the idea of stealth going belly up and not panning out for maximum chaos.
Sabotaging Sensors - The Doctor isn't the killing someone in cold blood type but he'd be very interested in getting a closer look at the sensor towers for reverse engineering technology purposes. Like the above he could have bene dragged there for healing purposes or to play the grumpy moral compass to persuade someone else to not kill the Sylphid technicians and only cause destruction to the towers. Happy to also have him be there on hand to try and rescue someone that gets captured. Be warned that if killing does happen in front of him it could set off some tension/negative CR but I'm open to exploring this if someone is interested!

For the troop prompt, Clara's gonna see some of her echoes die, maybe we could come up with something especially traumatizing for the Doctor. EXCEPT HE DOESN'T REALLY REMEMBER ANYTHING so idk how that would even go sdfjsdg.

Commander Shepard | Mass Effect Trilogy
Character Name: Elle Shepard.
Mission(s) Accepted: The New Arrivals and Sabotaging Sensors. Will also happily accept any of the other missions if more help is needed!
Plotting Ideas:
~ The New Arrivals
Elle's got tons of infiltration experience. In fact, it's what centers most of her training. She'd be looking at sewers, vent systems, and windows for entry. Sewers will be the last she'd want to utilize unless they turn out to possibly have the highest success rate. There will most definitely be a fire fight, and she is expecting as much, so she'd appreciate anyone willing to join her on this. She would want to lead a team (ensure their safety, basically), but she'll encourage suggestions on plan details—which is where ooc brainstorming will come in.
~ Sabotaging Sensors
Killing bad guys and exploding things is kind of her peanutbutter and jam. She'd be interested in joining anyone who isn't able to kill (physically, morally, whathaveyou). She would be adamant about there being a team leader of sorts, whether it's her or someone else. Like above, outside of the mission's success, her number one priority will be ensuring everyone gets out in one piece.
~ For either mission, if anyone is up for negative CR, throw your ideas my way! I'm not very picky with what types of CR I'd like to play out. I'm only including this for peace of mind.

Character Name: Clara
Mission(s) Accepted:
- To the Troop is a for sure.
- Operation: Relief is a nope to the actual mission.
- New Arrivals is a maybe.
- Sabotaging is a non-starter unless we can come up with a good reason that doesn't involve killing!
Plotting Ideas:
Clara did a thing in canon that split her into millions of pieces to make sure she's scattered across the Doctor's timeline to always save him and be ready to die for him, essentially. The Clara in game is the OG, but once she starts hallucinating, she's going to start seeing 'echoes' of herself and how she died. Essentially seeing herself dying over and over again.
I think this could play out a couple of ways. She'll think she's dead, or other people will think she's possibly watching something play out from home. And I can do a new echo for each tag-in so that's a fun thing. I truly have the loosest idea of how this would go but it's the one I'm the most keen on exploring.
With Operation: Relief, Clara would probably just die, so she wouldn't actually go. I'm happy to do something back at camp to help someone who might be hurt/needs to process and vent/new arrival who needs orientating.
Helping new arrivals is probably risky and chancing it, but she's small and quiet, and could probably make it a good amount of time before all hell breaks loose. I'm fine with her getting ruffled up or hurt badly, just not winding up dead. It could be an interesting moment for her to be forced into a weapon and using it which would either create negative CR or...idk probably just negative CR????
And finally, anything that deals with purposefully hurting people is a no from her.
no subject
(Also - are Clara's echoes something she's able to remember? Since it occurs to me that Link's Heba power, aka Memory Projection, could potentially feed into and add onto this as well. Technically he hasn't manifested it yet, but hey, maybe the mushrooms spark something...)

Character Name: Dakota Perkins
Mission(s) Accepted:
- The New Arrivals - definitely
- Operation: Relief - maybe
Plotting Ideas:The New Arrivals - The front-door approach is Codi's wheelhouse and she'll definitely offer to take it - not only because she'll be feeling confident after this worked for the last mission, but also because she knows that it will likely look impressive to the new members and she wants to leave a good impression on them. I'd be down for having her work with a group of others that want to go through the front, or with a group of more stealthy types that use her as a distraction while they try to find a way in somewhere else, or some combination of the two! I'm also looking forward to this not going nearly as smoothly the second time and for someone to have to help get her ass out of hot water.
Operation: Relief - Codi knows how to drive one of these things!! She'll definitely need someone a bit more combat-oriented to help fight off the wildlife and any Sylphid interference, though.

Vader is curious about The Troop and is using this to cover his exploring/experimenting. He's not going to be using the mask as um shall we say wisely as he should be.
I am open to plotting/have no plans with a partner yet
Need a heavy hitter for security? He's available! Also plotting out where the other camp is.
He'll be getting his lightsaber back, and is teaming up with Obi-Wan.
Again, need a heavy hitter? He's likely going to be dipping to go rescue someone (that's HIS Jedi, not YOURS Sylphid) but until then...

Character Name: Leia Organa
Mission(s) Accepted: The New Arrivals
Plotting Ideas: I wanted her to do the nice, safer relief mission but then I realized if she tags along somehow to the totally not a trap mission to rescue new arrivals, SHE CAN HAVE HER DROID LOLA BACK. So...we're doing this.
There are ways her Heba Power can be used to deal with robotic/electrical/security based systems, depending. Not as much mechanical or computing, but for example, temporarily block doors from opening, pause security cameras, disable turrets/enemy robotics OR with a bit more time, temporarily turn them against the Sylphid. Things like that. Her little self-made droid can also pick certain locks. Leia is not, in fact, a useless mission ally and it will probably more be HER babysitting YOU.
She's also good at being encouraging and small and stealthy and fearless.

Definitely New Arrivals
Planning to go sensor-smashing with Vader
Open to any of the others
Plotting Ideas:
Mostly, he wants his saber back. But he also is open to being involved in whatever since it's all presumably helpful in eventually getting himself home and/or interesting to him because he's secretly kind of a nerd (shh) and also wants to know more things about this place in general just for security reasons. I don't have any real specifical plotting thoughts, but he's gotten his chip out, so he has powers to work with and no compunctions about mind controlling or killing people if needed.

Character Name: Juhani and Layla
Mission(s) Accepted: The New Arrivals
Plotting Ideas: In the previous mission, Juhani and Layla discovered they work pretty well at planning, so they'd eagerly volunteer to work together again.
And since Layla is much more stealthy than Juhani, and Juhani can tank her way through things - one can function in a much more stealthy manner while Juhani distracts the Slyphid response - before working as a paired team to get people back to the lines.
