Plotting Meme #2

How It Works
Welcome to the first plotting post for Mission #2 of Annexed!
How Mission Logs Work: There will generally be two main missions per month, with different focuses tailored to different skillsets (usually stealth vs. fighting, though other skillsets will be tapped on). Each mission will be posted in phases, with a prompt for the start of each phase. The plotting post will give you a rundown of what the missions are, how they might go, and what might be discovered. Characters may partake in whichever pat of the operation they choose, whether it's a large prominent part or a more supporting role. Characters may participate in both missions, and as many phases as they wish.
Mod Guidance: Players may request occasional scene-setting when they hit a point where they're unsure what might happen next in a log or what their characters might encounter. There will be a "Mod Guidance" comment that players can reply to in order to request this kind of scene-setting.
Completion of Missions: There will be a submissions comment for anyone who's threaded out a portion of the mission. Once a thread has been completed at least halfway, please submit your character's progress and plans for the thread to the submissions thread. These submissions are the main way that the mod will decide how the mission went in the next month's wrap-up post, so they are very important!
After The Mission: A couple of weeks after the mission is posted, a Relief Log will go up for characters to patch up, wind down, and interact casually. There will be a wrap-up post toward the end of the month after the mission is posted to explain how it went.
Mission Log: Here!
The Magic of Sensors
After last month's failed attempt at setting up sensor networks in the jungle outside the city, the Sylphid are taking a new tack. Still intent on expanding their territory and disrupting the magical spell that keeps the Witches hidden from their sensors despite being chipped, the Sylphid are trying to use magic to create a new type of sensor network.
For many years, the Witches have relied on an area-of-effect magic spell that disrupts the chips and feeds false information back to the Sylphid sensor network about where Chipped rebels are and their biodata. Over the past week or two, the Sylphid have been sketching out the leylines in the jungle and through the communities outside the city limits to set up a new magical sensor network that will disrupt the spell protecting chipped Witches from detection.
This means that, if the network is successful, the new sensors will be able to pick up and identify chipped rebels, both old and new. This could be very, very bad for missions and a massive blow against the Witches, allowing the Sylphid to locate and capture chipped Witches.
The Witch will be calling a general meeting at the Command Center where she will explain the situation and the proposed missions to stop it.
Mission A: Disrupting the Leylines
Mission Appropriateness: Chipped or Stripped
Mission Focus: Recon, battle
This mission will focus on recon and battle with the Sylphid. The leylines outside the city have been sketched out with a magic-focusing paint that amplifies their magical output. Operatives will be armed with cannisters of spray paint that have been treated with samples collected from the Troop, and taught disruptive and magic-dampening runes that they can then graffiti the leylines with to cause a disruption to their magic. They will also be outfitted with a sort of hoverboard for faster and more agile movement.
Phase I - Recon: Characters will need to stealthily follow the paths of the leylines and identify on leyline maps which ones are being tapped for their magical power.
Phase II - Disruption: Characters will take cannisters of magically-enhanced paint and use them to graffiti runes onto the leylines in order to disrupt their magical power.
Phase III - Battle: Characters will need to fight Sylphid who have discovered their mission and fight a running battle while disrupting the leylines.
Mission B: Sensing the Sensors
Mission Appropriateness: Chipped or Stripped
Mission Focus: Stealth, recon, some battle.
This mission will focus on stealth, recon, and possible battle with the Sylphid if discovered. Tian characters will be taught a simplified location spell and a spell to shut down the magical sensors that have been set up and accompanied by one or two Heba companions for protection while they locate and shut down the magical sensor towers. They will be pursued by canine-like golem automatons that run on magitech and must be taken down with magic and weapons, along with their handlers. These automatons can be stalled out with magic, but with the appropriate tech knowledge can be reprogrammed into domesticated pets.
Phase I - Location: Tian characters, accompanied by Heba protectors, will need to locate the new magical sensor towers in the rough terrain of the jungle.
Phase II - Disruption: Tian characters, while being protected by their Heba companions, will need to cast a complicated spell requiring full concentration to deactivate the magical sensor towers.
Phase III - Destruction & Sabotage: Characters will destroy the physical structures of the sensor towers and attempt to sabotage any enemy activity in the area through guerilla techniques or magic.

I still functioooonHallo, will these sensor towers have completely different coding from the ones we were blowing up earlier? Also, as these new ones employ magic/magitech? - I'm assuming it'll be a little trickier than just hacking in and downloading things if a certain clone were so inclined. I'm trying to get an idea of how magitech coding would work in general. Do you think it'd be possible to directly "download" anything by way of his machine control ability, as it gives him ability to communicate with machinery.

Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Tian
Useful Skills & Abilities: Now that he has been stripped of his chip, Obi-Wan is back to full Force user powers and abilities. He also has his glowstick back.
Missions: Sensing the Sensors
Phases: Phase I, II and III
General Plans: I actually like the idea of Obi-Wan getting the Force back, but then landing in a mission where he needs to learn and utilize Tian magic.

Rokuro Unno | Tian
Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Tian
Useful Skills & Abilities: Rokuro has very limited understanding of Tian-specific magic, but as someone who is magically inclined in general will be able to do the basics as required without much fuss.
On a basic physical level, supersonic screaming that can make people seriously ill, rupture their ear-drums, etc, as well as skilled combat with very specific ranged weapons: small throwing knives and whips.
As the Brave of Water, Rokuro has mastery of several generic water-related abilities, and a few more 'abstract' ones, the foremost of which is control of water in the human body, which allows him to 'see' movements before they happen by virtue of blood moving through the body, as well as the more dangerous capacity to 'control' that blood-- which means he can make people black out, give them heart attacks, or force an aneurysm.
His most practical water power is the ability to create large water-bubble forcefields around several subjects at once, which makes him a strong defensive asset.
That said, his powers (minus the scream) take a tremendous physical toll, so he can't go around exploding peoples brains willy-nilly. Due to his possession by the moon god Tsukuyomi, moonlight amplifies his powers and allows him to use specific abilities longer, but the capacity for MORE power makes it a lot easier for him to go past the point of burn-out to dead. He's also on the smaller side, and is shown in canon to be much physically weaker than the average ninja/warrior. Rokuro ain't winning a wrassling match any time soon.
Missions: B - Sensing Sensors
Phases: I, II, III
General Plans: Nothing specific! Rokuro is going to be REALLY happy to take part in a mission that's not technology based and more within his wheelhouse, and so he is eager to get out there and prove himself a worthy asset to the rebels.
Given that magic is his strength, I'm happy to write him taking down multiple sensors, and wouldn't mind experimenting with a few different Heba partners!

future bffspeople coming together to do some sensor smashing? We talked about it a little already but I think the Doctor’s Heba ability would keep Rokuro in the field longer than he already can if you’re game to explore that!(no subject)

Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Lots of fighting and archery skills, as well as the Sheikah Slate which can do all sorts of ridiculous stuff like making bombs and moving giant metal objects. He's also got his paraglider back now, which also means he can DESCEND FROM ON HIGH to kill things!
Missions: Both!
Phases: No particular phases - Link could go for all in both missions, really
General Plans:
For Mission A: Exploring across wide stretches of land is very much Link's wheelhouse, but he's also used to doing so alone. He's likely to run off on his own, show up out of nowhere, and generally fail to coordinate with anybody on anything. On the plus side though, once fighting breaks out he's someone who's real good to have around.
For Mission B: I would definitely like Link to be someone (or several someone's) Heba protector! In fact he'll be pretty good at this, and will take it quite seriously. Also, he's always up for sabotage. (access to Infinite Bombs is always good for that, really...)

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: He's got a big brain, is very clever and has a bit of a wonky danger sense but will refuse to kill outright unless there's no way around it/it happens because of circumstance. So basically it'll be a good time. Oh right, he has flawless restoration so he can keep you ship shape.
Missions:
- Disrupting the Leylines
- Sensing the Sensors
Phases:
- Disrupting the Leylines: Phase I, II, and if III is a circumstance we can talk about it!
- Sensing the Sensors: Phase I, II, and III
General Plans:
- Disrupting the Leylines:
For the most part the Doctor is kind of itching to get his hands on that magically grafitti. As long as he can do that he's gonna be pleased as punch.
- Sensing the Sensors:
The Doctor is definitely going to be interested in getting his hands on those golems and seeing what he can do about reprogramming them! He could also probably offer to run distraction for his Tian counterpart instead of actual fighting as well.

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Peak human durability, speed, strength etc. for a woman her age and size; excellent fighting capabilities; good at stealth when necessary; gymnastics; the ability to pull anything from a range of weapon types (bludgeoning, pole, and guns) from a neverending pocket dimension of weapons.
Missions: Missions A & B
Phases: All phases.
General Plans: I would love to offer up Harley to protect Tians while they cast magic, and she will be rocking it on a hoverboard fighting and graffiti-ing up a storm. I would particularly love if someone would be willing to reprogram a dog golem for her - if it doesn't happen during the mission, she'll capture one and ask on the network later though.

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Tian
Useful Skills & Abilities: The chip has put a cramp in his style, but he's proficient with hand-to-hand combat and extremely comfortable with vehicular combat. He's just not going to be hitting as hard as he'd like.
Missions: Both!
Phases: A - II and III, B - II and III
General Plans: Hajime's Tian but he's more inclined to try to rush in there and start beating on things. Having to be protected on Mission B will gall him and he'll probably need to be encouraged to stay on track and not go trying to beat the hell out of any enemy he sees.

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Experience with infiltration missions and general combat situations, she figured out her Heba ability last mission so now she can turn water into stuff to fight with.
Missions: Both
Phases: All, but mostly interested in actually threading out ii and iii for both.
General Plans: -Given Mikumo's experience with navigating janky terrain, I imagine she'll be a big help on the first mission as far as helping to keep people moving even while the battle is going on. She'll be carrying water with her to use with her powers, though if she finds a natural water source on the way, so much the better.
-For the second, she'd be one of the protectors covering a Tian person, so if anyone wants just Mikumo for that or wants to set up a group, I'm up for it either way. As I mentioned, she has access to her water powers now, so she can create things to respond to a lot of different situations, and while she'll be trying to avoid killing pursuing Sylphid she also won't refuse to if it's necessary.

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Soldier to the core. Good dual-wielding guns, using grenades, and some heavy lifting if it comes to it. Tech-specialist, will hax for all the infos at any given opportunity. Has fun gear thrown together for comm jamming, heat signature scanners, energy readings and all that good
nerdstuff. Budding machine control, he can coerce things into shutting down from a given distance or turn them onlightswitch raves where noone knows who's doing it, ooh-oooohand I'm aiming for him learning he can "talk" to machines too as this mission progresses.Missions: A: I & III, open to serving as back up on II. B: I-III
Phases:
Mission A: Thankfully you have one of the stealthier Bad Batchers. Magic isn't offputting for this clone despite his technical/scientific tendencies. He's all about seeing how these things work and taking excessive notes. I'm flexible in having him assist on phase II but he'll be best suited for III and do his best to keep Sylphid off their backs.
Mission B: Tech's got some unfinished business with sensor towers although it's a little annoying that now they have magical ones to contend with. Still, won't stop this clone from trying to crack its secrets as he can. Which will prevent immediate shut-down plans but hey. He'll try not to be too fascinated by the killer automatons and probably want to study them too, but he won't be against taking them out as needed if they prove too much of a hassle. Open to all three phases because I'm crazy.
General Plans:
Tech's got his own mission objectives but he's willing to multitask. Very much a team-oriented person he'll provide backup to the best of his ability and entrust that whomever he's with will do the same

Chipped or Stripped? chipped
Heba or Tian? tian
Useful Skills & Abilities: engineer, pilot, command/organisation
Missions: both missions!!
Phases: bits of all? she's available around all
General Plans: so una's pretty conflicted about being chipped but isn't yet rushing to take it out because the stealth is a good idea and she also doesn't want to let anyone onto the fact that she might have a reason to take it out. just a regular human here. (currently yes).
for mission a, she might try help organise people, be on comms with them. she'd help with the spray painting if extra bodies were needed. if she ended up fighting the sylphid that would definitely make her rethink staying chipped (rip strength, how do you human) but maybe she gets out before the fight starts??
for mission b, she's tian, she has magic though magic is new to her (and vaguely strange and alien on her general cultural knowledge of it anyway). so she hasn't investigated it, doesn't really know anything about it. but she'll go to her magic class for this and learn this spell -- it's weird but she'll be helpful?? i might limit this to just one or two heba people that are 'with her' (if the group is having to magic at different locations) to keep it simple for me. if they manage to stall out one of the automatons she can try and tech shut it down (or reprogram it if anyone wants a pet).

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped for now
Heba or Tian? Tian
Useful Skills & Abilities: Still stealthy!
Missions: A & B
Phases: Mission A - Phase I only
Mission B - Phases I & II
General Plans: We've established Clara can't fight, but she can plot ley lines and do some magic casting. She'll need a Heba but I'm open to her Heba totally letting her down and letting her get hurt. I'm rolling with what happens and completely open to just seeing where things go. She'd be pleased if she returned to camp having successfully helped with minor incident, and more inclined to stay back and start learning more about the magic if not. Whether the wind blows definitely dictates Clara's future chipped status.

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: Excellent combat skill at both short and long range; nanomachine body provides unparalleled survivability, endurance, and flexibility
Missions: Both
Phases: All
General Plans: Elma is well aware she's most capable of battle, but hey, that seems to be a threat no matter what they do, right? She'd be especially good at protecting Tian characters during B, but she's willing and able to support wherever she can. She can also take a command position if anyone needs to be ordered around to be most effective!

Even though he is no longer chipped, Obi-Wan has a lot of faith in Elma's abilities to watch his back.

Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: The Force (TM); also available to force-bond in for ~surprise help~ or just surprise awkwardness if you're Kylo or tethered to her. She's a competent fighter so she can protect others, and she can Force heal in an emergency.
Missions: Either/both.
Phases: Any
General Plans: Rey will be offering herself up as a fighter/protector in most cases, but if you want her for a stealthy thing I'm down. Mostly I'd just like to get some opportunities to thread with people I haven't yet and/or those I only got to introduce her to briefly thus far. Feel free to recruit her to anything you'd like.

Chipped or Stripped? Stripped
Heba or Tian? Heba
Useful Skills & Abilities: The Force, pretty good at sneaking around, a decent mechanic, good with a sword, and also a pretty good shot, although he's still getting used to slug throwers rather than blasters. He doesn't and will not be getting his canon lightsaber back. He's using local equivalent of a vibrosword. In general, he's pretty experienced with this guerilla, tactics on the fly thing.
Missions: Both!
Phases: Any!
General Plans: Perhaps an excuse for Ezra to go full Loth Wolf form on someone (his Heba ability)? Also he is good at calling for help from local fauna, via the Force. He also just needs to make more social ties with Tian folks, as he is still tetherless.

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Tian
Useful Skills & Abilities: Codi's general skills at front-door infiltration will not be so useful this round, but she still has some Tian spells (Vicious Mockery, Friends, Healing Word, and as of this mission Charm Person and Sleep) plus basic combat experience at her disposal. She's also getting somewhat familiar with Broken World technology at this point, so she'll be able to better navigate things like disabling computers or piloting vehicles.
Missions: Both! Realistically more impactful for Mission B though.
Phases:
Mission A: Phase I, maybe the start of Phase 2.
Mission B: All parts!
General Plans: No specific plans! Codi can help in the first parts of Mission A, but as soon as things get hot in Phase II she'll want to retreat. She'll have to stick around for Mission B though, considering how she needs to concentrate on the spell thing. I'd like her to have the opportunity to get distracted by her new Tether(s?) at some point, maybe heal some of her teammates, maybe fumble a bit at this whole front-line combat thing and panic about remembering all of the Mission B spell components? Open to ideas!

Chipped or Stripped? Chipped
Heba or Tian? Tian
Useful Skills & Abilities: Marc is pretty familiar with this kind of mission, from the military, his mercenary days, and for working with Khonshu and Layla for years after. Steven has been focusing on protection spells, so he'll have Mage Armor and Disguise Self and such up for anybody on their team.
Missions: Both A and B
Phases: The tracking and glyphing phases of A, the location and disruption of B, if there's time for both
General Plans: Steven is going to be taking point for most of these, given he's the alter who actually cares about magic, and he's actually really excited about it. Though Marc is likely to swap in if things get hairy. If things get really hairy, I'm open to Jake's first appearance as well, as he traditionally only drops in if the system is in serious danger.
Given Marc has been the main mission guy for the past couple months, this is an opportunity for anyone who's worked with them in the past to have to figure out just what is going on with the formerly stoic but capable merc guy suddenly being an excitable British nerd.
