1. The mind of the Troop would be too large for one person alone to influence, though it could possibly be convinced with the right argument not to retaliate. As for what could be learned if you probe its thoughts, a character could learn that the Troop is ancient, and has been on the planet since before it became the Broken World. They could also learn that when the planets collided, it lost half of itself, as the Troop is right on the borderline where the two planets meet.
