Player Plot!! Outworlder Talent Show

Hi friends, I'm bringing a little player plot your way where characters can participate in a fun talent show for prizes! It is sponsored by local businesses and there are definitely No Ulterior Motives from organizer Codi. More details below!

What is happening

This past month, Codi and Harley would have finally put some money down to buy a venue for their new Tethering Ceremony business. Obviously they are a couple of little fish in a big pond when it comes to this business model, so Codi has decided to use their newly renovated building to host an outworlder-specific talent show, where people can show off their unique skills, niche arts, culture, or even learned talents from the Broken World for their peers and native Broken World rebels to judge. This event will be sponsored by a large chunk of Witches Camp vendors, who are working with Harley to help to distribute flyers leading up to it, and to provide some prizes, in exchange for advertising their own businesses. Codi and Harley will personally use the event to shamelessly promote her own new company to any attendees that are in the market for Tethering.

IC Engagement

Flyers and advertisements on the Network will have started distribution earlier in January, and will continue through February. Characters interested in participating will be directed to either sign up at the venue itself or via network signup page. Harley will be dedicated to all advertising design, implementation, and signup organization and admin. The talent show proper will happen in March.

All actions leading up to the talent show can be handwaved as desired, and a mingle will be posted sometime in March in case anyone wants to play out their characters' performances or associated shenanigans before or after the show - maybe someone has a problem with how the judges scored them and makes a scene about it, or someone else tries to sabotage the competition? This is all freeform and, from Codi's perspective, all publicity is good publicity (as long as you pay for damages).

Signing Up and Judging

<b>Character Name:</b> <b>Performance:</b> Describe what your character will be doing for their performance. <b>Judge Rating:</b> On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you think the judges would rate your character's performance? Consider 1 to be the worst or most embarrassing thing you've ever seen, and 10 to be well-rehearsed and stunning to watch. <b>Audience Rating:</b> On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you think the audience would rate your character's performance? If your routine has a lot of audience interaction, they might rate it higher than the judges do; otherwise the scaling is the same. <b>Prize Preference:</b> If your character wins the grand prize, what kind of weapon would they like (sword/bow and arrows/axe/etc.) and what kind of elemental enchantment would they want on it (fire/ice/lightning/etc.)? <b>Other Notes:</b> Do you have any plans for your character before or after the show? Any ideas for how they might interact with the show and its organization in general? Other plotting notes?

The competition will be judged by a panel of five "impartial" NPCs (they have been provided by sponsors so take that as you will), who will score each performance privately on a scale of 1 to 10, Harley will add their results, then give Codi the top three total scores to read out at the end of the show. The crowd will also be allowed to score each participant on the same scale and submit their results via the Network, which Codi will again read out at the end of the show.

Actual winners will be chosen semi-randomly; the scores you give your character's performance in the above form will be used as weight for the RNG (hover over this text for exact math). I want to keep the results somewhat random because I'd like to give everyone a chance at getting a cool prize, and also, who knows? Maybe your yodeling cowbell routine isn't very impressive to Earth audiences, but it has struck a chord with the judges in a totally unexpected way. Results will be posted with the IC mingle.

Rewards

Rewards come in five tiers:

• Participant Reward: Congratulations, you participated! Everyone that signs up gets a single euphoria potion, good for one night of non-addictive, worry-free fun.
• Third Place: A good luck potion that will work for 48 hours after drinking it.
• Second Place: A droid or drone, capable of doing basic, minor tasks (cleaning, recon, etc.)
• Grand Prize: An enchanted weapon of the winner's preference (for winning the judges' vote)
• Crowd Favorite: A one-time use free voucher for Codi and Harley's Tethering Ceremony business (for winning the crowd's vote)
